Digg visitors are not clickers, are they?


Not long ago, I found one intersting thread in Webmaster World about the quality level of Digg.com traffic (http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum89/13191.htm).

The most important for WebMaster Word’s users are the CLICKS - posts like “… yes, digg visitors are known to be non-clickers …” and “if you get popular on digg, you just get heaps of hits and bandwidth issues” are not just bad press, but repetitive posts. That is the Digg for them (or for most of them) - a bad ranked CTR machine.

But is the quality level of Digg traffic the main goal for Digg users and submitters?

No, I think that digg users are just people who wants to know the unfiltered information, not dressed and ads free.

Digg is a social club

It’s really hard to define Digg like something else - as it’s said in the Digg’s about page - “Digg is a technology news website that combines social bookmarking, blogging, RSS, and non-hierarchical editorial control.” And when we are talking about social club, we do have to mention the “liberty of editorial control”. Internet users are tired from the junked information presented in a “high-quality envelope”, garnished with the ads and ideas of those who have power - corporations, television networks, politics, etc.

That’s the appeal of the Digg idea - be free and choose the content you want to read - no ads, no “high-level” controlled content. Everyone can write and everyone can choose what to read - that’s the Digg and that’s why we like it.

Only thing I see at times are plain text ads, and it’s not very often.

Yes, but the role of Digg is different - not a CTR machine.

Read that digg listed sites gets hundreds more traffic that non listed how does a site get listed?
